UNITED STATES: Harris Picks Tim Walz as Running Mate, Kicks Off Campaign Tour for November Election

Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate in her historic bid for the presidency.

The decision, has announced by CNN early Tuesday, aims to complement Harris in her quest to become the first female president of the United States of America.

Walz, a 60-year-old Midwestern Democrat known for his approachable style, was chosen to balance Harris’s ticket and address concerns about her perceived left-leaning stance.

Walz’s track record on popular Democratic issues, such as cannabis legalization and worker protections, is expected to resonate with progressive voters. The pair will immediately embark on a five-day campaign tour through key battleground states, beginning with Pennsylvania.

Harris, who recently secured the Democratic nomination, is gearing up for the national convention in Chicago. Her campaign has quickly gained momentum since she entered the race after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal, setting fundraising records, drawing large crowds, and leading in recent polls.

The latest University of Massachusetts Amherst poll shows Harris ahead of Trump by three points nationally, a notable shift from Trump’s previous lead over Biden.
