Why Defence Minister Musa Accused El-Rufai of Promoting Division

Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of promoting division in Nigeria, saying the country does not need politicians who exploit differences among citizens.

Musa made the remarks on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday while responding to questions about the state of the nation and the challenges confronting Nigeria.

The minister suggested that the country could have been in a different situation if El-Rufai were still in a position of influence, accusing the former governor of contributing to divisive political narratives.

According to Musa, Nigeria needs leaders who will unite citizens and focus on addressing the challenges facing the country rather than exploiting ethnic, religious or other differences for political purposes.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a leader committed to Nigeria’s development and progress.

Musa’s comments come amid continuing political debates over leadership, national unity and the challenges facing the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
