The National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yusuf Dantalle, has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to issue an apology over his recent allegation that opposition leaders are receiving funds from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku had alleged that the Federal Government is paying certain opposition members and leaders N50 million to weaken and destabilize opposition parties.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today show on Friday, Yusuf Dantalle stated that he would not take Atiku’s allegation lightly.
“You (Atiku) may have your information, but that is not enough reason to claim that all opposition members received N50 million. As far as I know, my party is the Allied Peoples Movement, and I currently lead the umbrella body of all political parties in Nigeria. To the best of my knowledge, no national chairman or leader has collected such money,” he said.
The IPAC leader accused Atiku of unnecessarily heating up the political landscape and fostering an atmosphere of suspicion.
“With due respect, what I expect Atiku to do is apologize to opposition leaders in the same manner he made the allegation or specifically name those involved in this rubbish,” he said.
Dantalle further stated that he had spoken with several party chairmen, and they were displeased with Atiku’s remarks.
